Doradilla

White variety of very limited production, also known as Dorada or Uva Dorada; the name alludes to the golden-yellow colour of the berries when ripe. Found mainly in the north of the province of Málaga (Mollina), where it used to be grown in other areas too, and also in the Almerian Alpujarra and the Canary Islands; plant material is kept at IFAPA Rancho de la Merced (Jerez). Vines with an upright shoot and medium yields, medium-sized bunches and spherical, yellowish-green, thin-skinned berries. High sugar content and low acidity. The wine is not full-bodied or very aromatic, but elegant and distinctive, with subtle mineral notes and saline touches; it is made as a single-variety wine or in blends in the DO Sierras de Málaga. Some authors link it to the Jaén variety. In the Málaga and Sierras de Málaga DOs it is listed among the predominant varieties (Distribución y Consumo, 2008).
