Castellana Negra

Found on almost all the islands, with more presence in Tenerife. It corresponds to Portugal's Tinto Cão; it is sometimes called Tintilla (a homonym) and should not be confused with La Palma's Castellana Palmera, which is Garnacha Tinta. Very vigorous in fertile soils, with a small bunch (about 103 g) and low yields. Late ripening (mid-September); no single-variety wines are made, it is blended with other reds.
