Bastardo Negro

Not widely planted but scattered across the islands, mainly Tenerife, La Palma and El Hierro. It corresponds to Mollar, Puesto Mayor and Verdejo Negro on the mainland and to Saborinho in Portugal. It shares many traits with Baboso Negro and Tintilla, but they are distinct cultivars; it often gets names such as Baboso, Tinta or Tintilla. SNP analyses suggest it is probably a cross of Traminer and Prieto Picudo. Small bunch (about 85 g), late ripening; no single-variety wines have been found in the Canary Islands, because it appears marginally and blended.
