What is a natural red wine?

A natural red wine is made from organic or biodynamic grapes, fermented spontaneously with native yeasts and with nothing added in the winery, or as little as possible. There is no legal definition in the EU; producers and wine lovers broadly agree on this approach. See our natural wine guide.

Our reds cover very different styles, from light reds meant to be drunk cool to more structured ones.

How to serve it

Serve reds at around 12–16 °C. Light, fruity reds are best a little cool. Open the bottle a few minutes before serving: natural wines often change in the glass.

FAQ

Does natural red wine contain sulphites? Almost all wines contain some sulphites, because fermentation produces them. Many natural producers add very little or none.

Why can a natural red be cloudy or have sediment? Because it is not heavily filtered or stabilised. It is not a flaw.

Which red should I try first? If you are new to natural wine, start with a light, fruity red. If you prefer more body, ask for a more structured one.

We sell to customers resident in Spain and ship to mainland Spain; the usual delivery time is 24–72 hours from dispatch, and it can be longer when a producer has not yet bottled the wine.
