Paratges Singulars

Three plots, two bottles of each.

Three wines from a single plot or site, two bottles of each: one to drink now and one to compare or keep, because these wines age well in bottle. Panxut is 100% Bonicaire from one site (Gosgorrobio, 550 m), fermented with stems in an open barrel and aged 12 months in a concrete egg. L'Arenal comes from L'Arenal de Pola, beside the Clariano river (550 m): 90% Monastrell with Bonicaire, Garnacha and Malvasía, aged in egg, barrels and foudre. Alt de les Flors is the 2.60 ha plot at La Lloma Rasa, 95% Monastrell, 8 months in foudre and 4 in concrete egg. Three different soils (sandy-loam limestone, silty-sandy over a limestone crust, and albariza) and three ways of ageing, all in Ontinyent.

€149.90 for the 6 bottles: €24.98 on average. Bought separately they add up to €159.70 (Panxut €24.95, L'Arenal €20.95, Alt de les Flors €33.95, two of each); the pack costs €9.80 less. With this pack standard shipping is free (orders from €120).

What's in the pack

Panxut 2024

2× Panxut 2024

red · 100% Bonicaire

Clean cherry-red colour with slight violet hues. Frank, direct nose —cherries, wild strawberries, floral notes— with a herbaceous touch typical of sandy-limestone soils at 550 m altitude. Pure, elegant palate of great freshness, fine tannins and lively acidity. 8 months in a 500 L cask that refines the fruit without covering it. Bonicaire in its most honest state. 92 pts Robert Parker.

Alt de les Flors 2024

2× Alt de les Flors 2024

red · 95% Monastrell

Pale cherry red, surprisingly translucent. Fresh, mineral nose — red fruit, violets, notes of white stone and warm terroir —, unexpected in a Mediterranean area. Broad yet fresh palate, fine and very clean tannins, present acidity. Monastrell from 1946 vines on very white limestone soils (albariza) at 90% varietal representation: a wine that breaks all the clichés of the variety. 94 pts Robert Parker.

The territory

Ontinyent · Terres dels Alforins

Can Leandro's vineyards are in Ontinyent, between 500 and 620 m above sea level, on calcareous soils: the white albariza of La Venta Vella (620 m), the silty-sandy soils over a limestone crust at L'Arenal (550 m) or the sandy-loam of Gosgorrobio (550 m).

Gabriel Sanchis makes wine in Ontinyent from native varieties of the Vall d'Albaida and Terres dels Alforins. From his small winery come authentic wines from almost-vanished native varieties. Wines that are anything but casual, and that from the outset are a total statement: of the identity of the terroir, of the characteristics of the variety and of their personality as the young growers and winemakers they are.
