Arrels Mediterrànies

One white, one red, three of each.

One white and one red, three bottles of each, so you have two wines at home worth coming back to. La Vella is a white from old bush vines on albariza soil at 620 m, 80% Merseguera, aged 8 months in concrete tank. La Lloma is an estate red (La Lloma Rasa, 500 to 550 m) with 60% Bonicaire and 40% Monastrell, aged 8 months in large barrels and concrete. Both are minimal-intervention wines from the same house; each wine's page gives the winemaking details and tasting notes.

€84.90 for the 6 bottles: €14.15 on average. It is the pack price, with no crossed-out prices or «was/now». La Lloma is also sold on its own (€15.95); La Vella only here and in other packs.

The territory

Ontinyent · Terres dels Alforins

Can Leandro's vineyards are in Ontinyent, between 500 and 620 m above sea level, on calcareous soils: the white albariza of La Venta Vella (620 m), the silty-sandy soils over a limestone crust at L'Arenal (550 m) or the sandy-loam of Gosgorrobio (550 m).

Gabriel Sanchis makes wine in Ontinyent from native varieties of the Vall d'Albaida and Terres dels Alforins. From his small winery come authentic wines from almost-vanished native varieties. Wines that are anything but casual, and that from the outset are a total statement: of the identity of the terroir, of the characteristics of the variety and of their personality as the young growers and winemakers they are.
